Excellence is Never an Accident
“Excellence is never an accident.”
This quote from Aristotle has been on my mind this week. Apparently the pursuit of excellence is a timeless quest that all the greats have been pursuing for millennium. At Ernest Gaspard & Associates we have a good organization with a great brand and reputation. But the key to excellence is never settling for good, but always pushing towards great. Always pushing to be the best. Continuing to make sure that none of our team members gets comfortable and rests on our laurels, but continues to forge ahead and innovate in this rapidly evolving world we live in, with an even greater set of expectations from our designers and their end customers.
Excellence is not a 1-time, final destination to reach:
But more of a daily habit we engrain in our daily lives. As Aristotle eloquently points out, it is not an accident, but a thoughtful, planful way of putting all of one’s big ideas, fueled by work ethic and passion, into a focused set of endeavors; as much an attitude and set of expectations for oneself as anything else. Some days when looking across the five hundred thousands facets of our business, it seems like we are so far off from this moving target of excellence, while in other areas it seems like it is within reach. But having this chip on our shoulders is what helps us win over the long term.
At Ernest Gaspard, we are setting ourselves up to attain, or rather stay on (given our over 50 years of proud history for the company) our course to achieving, Excellence in all facets of the company. While we keep raising the bar on what we expect for ourselves and what we deliver for our design community, we know the job will never be finished. We are implementing tools and technologies to help us in this quest, but at the end of the day, it all starts and ends with people and the excellent service our people provide. We strive to deliver excellence for our designers, so they in turn can deliver excellence to their deserving customer base. Excellence is never an accident.
